Members of the Canton Lions Club provide eye exams/glasses for those in need of help in their local community. Other service activities include clothing drive for kids, providing grants and fundraisers to assist with community projects, sponsors the Pisgah High School Leo Club, provide scholarships for high school seniors, maintain an outdoor community pantry and support the ARC of Haywood County; Meadowbrook Elementary School cafeteria fund; Hope Chest for Women; Lions cabin at Camp Hope; Haywood Com-munity Learning Center; the Community Kitchen; and backpacks for school students. The Clyde Lions Club assists the visually impaired in their community as much as possible, providing them with transportation to doctor office visits and stores for needed necessities, and putting together a Christmas party for them in December. Club members also sponsor a monthly delicious meal for their local VIP’s, assist other local Lions clubs in raising money for victims of natural disasters in their county, and provide vision screenings for community schools.
