District 31L Lions Clubs of WNC

Lion Dawson Hart, 1st Vice District Governor

Lion Dawson first joined the West Hickory VIP Lions Club where he was a member for four years before transferring to the Long View Lions Club. Throughout his Lions career Dawson has served in many leadership roles including club president, zone chairman, Second Vice District Governor, and President of the Western NC Lions Board of Directors which operates District’s 31L’s Marjorie McCune Assisted and Independent Living Community. In addition to serving the Lions community, he has served on various boards of directors that have a high impact on the blind and visually impaired community. He is a past member of the Board of Directors for The North Carolina Accessible Books and Library Services formerly known as The Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped in which he worked on their public relations. Dawson has stepped aside from the library to be able to put more focus and energy on serving through the Lions while still maintaining his impact and participation on the Industries for the Blind Solutions Board on which he works with development and community awareness. For any of you who know Dawson, he is a talker and loves to make a direct impact on people and will share with anyone willing to listen about his love for his partner in crime, his guide dog Bauer.

Lion Dawson’s wife Elizabeth “Liz” Hart is also an active member of the Long View Lions Club where she is currently serving as secretary. Lion Dawson and Lion Liz reside in Granite Falls, NC.    Lion Dawson has one son and two daughters who are all married. He also has seven granddaughters and one grandson.
