District Governor, Susan Fernandez, was born and raised in northern Ohio. She then moved to Miami, Florida and resided there for over 20 years before relocating to North Carolina in 2011 with her husband.
Susan has worked in the aviation field for over 30 years. She has been with the same company for the past 24 years and is the Director of Trade Compliance at the corporate level. As she works remotely, she was looking for a way to not only meet people but also find a service organization to join. She went to a meeting with a neighbor, signed up shortly after, and has been an active member of the Etowah Lions Club since 2014.
Positions held at Etowah Lions Club include President, 1st VP, 2nd VP and Chairperson of ELSI. Numerous projects chaired, and the Committees include: Spot Camera, Building Maintenance, Membership Drives, Fundraising, Concession Stand, Scholarships and Blood Drives. Susan was Region 2 Chair for District 31L in 2020-2022 and resides on the McCune Center board.
Her awards received are: Melvin Jones (2020); William L. Woodard Founder, Supporter and Friend; Sid L. Scruggs III Beacon of Hope Fellowship – Lighthouse and Steps for Service; and Etowah Lion of the Year 2017-2018.
Susan and her husband, Juan, have two grown married sons and a fur baby named Molly Belle.
