Lion Kathy hails from the state of Massachusetts where she first got her interest in Lions. Her late husband George was involved in the Ipswich Lions Club and when he became president, he opened the club up to women; Kathy joined the club. She served as club secretary and President of the District 33N Visual Aids Foundation which lends assistive equipment to the visually impaired. Lion Kathy was awarded the Charles G. Kostro Fellowship in 2009 for her work on the Visual Aids Foundation.
Lion Kathy has resided in North Carolina since 2010 and joined the Etowah Lions Club in 2018. She has served as president, secretary, service activities chair, a board member of the Etowah Lions Services Inc., and as Market Manager for the Etowah Lions Farmers Market. Lion Kathy serves on the Western NC Lions Board of Directors that oversees the operation of the McCune Community, a District 31L project, and is a past zone chairperson.
Her Lion awards include: Progressive Melvin Jones, William L. Woolard Partner in Service (2020), North Carolina Ambassador (2022), International President’s Certificate of Appreciation (2022-2023), and Etowah Lion of the Year (2018-2019).
Kathy has two married sons and her ever faithful four-legged companion, Jake.
